Our small family winery produces authentic wines from scarce native varieties. Wines that are in no way a coincidence, but are a real vindication from the outset: of the homeland, of the characteristics of the variety, and of our personality as young wine-makers and oenologists. With respect for the environment and minimum intervention in the winery, we revive our family history and aim to surprise the rest of the world from Ontinyent, an inland Valencian town.
We vindicate the identity of our homeland, with its flora, fauna and all its life, the characteristics of local varieties and the personality of the farmer. The land is for those who work it, wine is for everyone.
A tribute to popular tradition, to family, to native varieties and to the farmers who have maintained them over time. A combination of wisdom and attitude, based on a respect for what wine was and what it will be. With a sustainable, organic process.
Rescuing old vines with native varieties such as Bonicaire, Merseguera and Monastrell so that the wine-making heritage of Ontinyent can last over time. Because history is there to be told, and wine to recover it.
“If it were only a matter of producing any old wine, I wouldn’t do this. With my work I want to rescue the wine-making history of Ontinyent, modernising it and giving it the importance it deserves, but without forgetting that I’m here and I want to surprise people”. Gabriel Sanchis
For us, the key is in respecting this land, with all its elements, and that grape that grows there and nowhere else. We’ve achieved an honest wine with minimum intervention. With no commitment, it’s all for nothing.
No vull fer verema a França, ai mare!,Jo vull treballar ma terra, ai mare!.Jo vull treballar ma terra.(I don’t want to harvest grapes in France, oh mother!I want to work my land, oh mother!I want to work my land.)
Ovidi Montllor
Ontinyent, al sur de la provincia de Valencia, tiene un microclima único. Un suelo que va cambiando palmo a palmo. ‘En cada bancal una misma variedad local logra matices muy diferentes’.
